I’m dancing higher and faster and faster and crazy and fast
I don’t know where I’m going or why, but it feels exhilarating

I’m twirling dizzy faster and my feet are moving and stomping

I’m passing people right and left, I can’t really see, it’s all sort of a blur
but it’s okay because

I’m dancing twirling whizzing and dizzy in my red shoes and it feels good
but I thought maybe, it might be a good idea to take a little rest, just a catnap
so I try to take off my red shoes, those very very red shoes
I pull and I tug and I slip and I slide
but they won’t come off
nothing I do will make them come off

I’m dancing higher and faster and faster and crazy and fast
I don’t know where I’m going or why, but it feels terrible
those very very red shoes are killing me
so I ask everyone I know if they know how to get those very very red shoes
off of my feet
but they are all dancing twirling whizzing and dizzy so much
that they can’t even hear the question
because fast is good

it’s those shoes, those very very red shoes
they won’t let me stop, slow down and think enough to care
I must get rid of those shoes, those very very red shoes
so I went to the executioner and he cut off my feet
I know it was drastic, but I couldn’t live with those shoes

Now I thought, well I can relax
the shoes have gone dancing off with my feet to torture someone else
this is great
but they came back
those very very red shoes came back
haunting me reminding me taunting me teasing and cajoling
they came back
those very very red shoes came back again and again

until I realized, I am those shoes
those very very red shoes are me
