Hold Hands and Fall

Take me to the place where trees dream aloud

where the mice and coyotes sing and the air smells red

There are books there

and birds that look like notes chime together softly

The place where storms trade thunder and lightning in our heads

because we’re up to it and the walls are full of drizzle

In that place we’ll hold hands and fall into the pond

We’ll become night

under the    far away stars

But maybe

not too far
