In the wake of the September 11th tragedy, my heart went out to all those who were suffering, grieving their lost loved ones. Truly we all grieved, not just for those most directly affected, but for our country, our lost innocence and sense of security. As an artist, my response was to express my emotions in the form of music and to share it with you. This composition for solo acoustic violin was broadcast over the radio and the internet. "While I usually write my music for electric violin, this piece is written for the acoustic violin. I wanted this composition to be independent of electronics, as if I were standing at the site, alone with just the violin and my grief." New York Times, October 29, 2001.
